About Kathy Wipfler
Kathy Wipfler (b. 1955) was born and raised in California and has been a serious and dedicated painter since 1979 when she moved to Jackson, Wyoming. Living on a working ranch in Jackson Hole provides the opportunity to experience the life of the Wyoming cowboy which finds its way into much of her work. Working in oil, and largely on location outdoors, her plein air paintings may be found in many prestigious private and museum collections across the country.
In 2000, then Wyoming Governor, Jim Geringer, presented a print of Wipfler's painting entitled "Wyoming Treasure" to 22 Governors and 3 Canadian Premiers at the annual Western States Governors Conference.
In 2006, the Whitney Western Art Museum of the Buffalo Bill Center of the West in Cody, Wyoming, purchased "Lower Falls of the Yellowstone," a stunning painting by Wipfler. The painting currently hangs near a painting of the same subject by Albert Bierstadt.
