With an eye for subtle beauty and a dedication to continual study, T. Allen Lawson works and paints in the tradition of earlier representational artists. His paintings, drawings and etchings are consistently evolving expressions of the artist and his surroundings. Tim formally studied portraiture and figure drawing at the American Academy of Art in Chicago and at the Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts in Old Lyme, Connecticut. He has painted and studied throughout the United States and on three continents. His work has been featured in one- man shows in Washington D.C., New York, Wyoming, California, Connecticut, Maine and Massachusetts. T. Allen Lawson received the Golden Thunderbird Award - Best of Show at the Maynard Dixon Country 2006. He has also received the Red Smith Memorial Award at the National Museum of Wildlife Art; the John F. and Anna Lee Stacey Scholarship Grant; the Jurors' Choice Award from the Buffalo Bill Historical Center; and in 2000 he was the winner of both the Artists' Choice Award and the William E. Weiss Purchase Award at the Buffalo Bill Historical Center. T. Allen Lawson's work has been featured in PleinAir Magazine (Nov 2005); Southwest Art (Dec 1988, Dec 1995, and Oct 2004); The Santa Clara Valley of Ventura County (2002); The Gardens of Santa Barbara (2000); U.S. Art (Mar 1990); Empire Magazine - The Denver Post (Aug 1997); and American Artist (Jan 1997, Apr 1998, and Dec 2001). In 2001 a major retrospective catalog of his work was released. Tim lives with his wife and four children in Rockport, Maine.
